Enhancing and Promoting positive emotional regulation
Here at SKC Therapy, I'm really passionate about promoting positive mindset within children and helping to learn coping mechanisms and strategies, change outlooks and aide development as they face issues that sometimes they struggle to learn to adapt to and these can become great obstacles for them.
One of the main contributors to mental health concerns in young children is Anxiety, a systemic result from fears and worries (plus others) that they are either exposed to as a natural part of their development. Some learn and cope by themselves, some do not and struggle to find that emotional regulation that see them copes in indifferent situations.
My Monster Worry Box is extremely effective at providing both outlets for Anxiety based issues and providing coping mechanisms that your child can use and learn from, remember to use the techniques and learn to help themselves as they continue there journey through childhood.
The box has proven to be very successful and I've had glowing feedback from parents whose children use them. Many of the techniques and activities within the box are a follow on from my therapy sessions where I we explore the activities in an exciting and fun way.
The box comes full of fun activities and tools for your child to carry out:
Many Coping Mechanisms and techniques.
Fun Fidget Toys - a great aide in Anxiety issues.
Colouring Pens, Colouring sheets.
Journal.
A Parent's user guide.
Learning tools and techniques.
Emotional Regulation Pop Cards.
Affirmations Cards.
Plus many many more!
The idea behind the use of the box, is your child makes the box their own, they can not only carry out the activities that are there to promote secure loving feelings and attachments, learning objectives like family trees, understanding themselves and their emotions but the child creates these themselves enhancing their creativity side and bringing a personal touch to their box.
They can colour and use stickers to personalise the box aswell as write down their worries and keep them in the box as the worry monster eats them up, which is a great and very effective way of externalising emotions putting them in a physical form they can better understand and put them to bed. The journal is a great way of writing down and externalising concerns and worries and is a backbone of therapy.
The Parents User Guide is an easy to understand guide showing Parents how the child can use the box and it's content activities.
